Two autopsy specimens from 1947. The left from a 74 year old woman who was found dead at the top of a flight of stairs at her home. She had been having "fainting attacks" for some five or six months, but regarded these as natural accompaniments of her increasing age. There was no history of heart disease or medical attention for many years. The right from a 52 year old man who collapsed and died at the wheel of a Post Office van in Borough. He had served in the 1939-45 war (A1) and worked the heavy duties of a P.O. delivery since, without complaint or apparent ill-health.
