The patient was treated with chemotherapy with resulting sputum"conversion" and resection of the caseous anterior segment of the right upper lobe, followed two months later by a left lower lobectomy. Microscopy showed multiple foci of tuberculouscaseation some lined by active tuberculous granulation tissue and others showing evidence of reparative fibrosisand calcification.
