Cardiac Pathology: Myocardium: Concentric hypertrophy: Hypertension

A 1934 autopsy specimen from a 60 year old woman who had suffered from attacks of mental confusion and giddiness, occasionally fainting with complete loss of consciousness, for a period of three years. The last attack had been followed by weakness of the left arm and leg. She had a cerebral haemorrhage and died from hypostatic pneumonia. The heart weight was 510g at post mortem and there was mild hypertensive scarring of both kidneys.
