A 1953 autopsy specimen from a 48 year old obese woman who had been in hospital for 5 months suffering from a generalised wasting illness which was never satisfactorily diagnosed. After getting up one evening she suddenly collapsed, became cold, breathless, pale and intensely cyanosed. She died within a few minutes.
