A 1977 autopsy specimen from a 70 year old lady, admitted as an emergency, with drowsiness and a flaccid paralysis of her right side. She was found to have absent reflexes and bilateral plantar responses. Her heart was greatly enlarged with both systolic and diastolic murmurs at the apex. She had several fits and died within 24 hours of admission.
