Deborah E., aged 9 years, had chronic glomerulonephritis with end-stage renal failure and hypertension. It was difficult to stabilise her on dialysis and therefore a bilateral nephrectomy was performed and she received a live donor transplant from her mother. Post operatively she developed oliguria, pancytopoeinia, pyrexia and diarrhoea. Despite drainage of a perirenal transplant she died 17 days after transplantation.
