An autopsy specimen from a 59 year old man known to have cirrhosis of the liver, when his condition began to deteriorate rapidly. He became drowsy and developed ascites. His liver began to enlarge rapidly. The diagnosis of hepato-cellular carcinoma developing in cirrhosis was confirmed at post-mortem.
