Ruptured splenic artery aneurysm

Share

A 1954 autopsy specimen from a 44 year old woman. She complained of pain in the mid and lower abdomen on January 23rd, was sick several times and had some bowel looseness. All of which continued, with little remission, until the morning of January 26th. At 3 am that day she was heard to fall out of bed, and was found dead on the floor. Autopsy revealed a ruptured splenic aneurysm, with a 3Ã?,Ã?,½ pint haemoperitoneum. No other vascular anomalies were present.
