A 1951 autopsy specimen from a 51year old broker who collapsed on London Bridge and was admitted, pale, cyanosed, cold and sweating, with impalpable pulse. He complained of central chest pain and survived only two hours. It was found subsequently that he had complained for the previous six or seven days of intermittent pain of similar nature accompanied by shortness of breath, but had continued his (sedentary) work, without seeking medical attention.
